2007 Artist Biographies:

Susan Amos owns and operates Infinite Lens Photography, a fine art portrait studio specializing in families, weddings, corporate, high school seniors, and documentaries. She will be exhibiting architectural images of the Monongalia Arts Building and a few portraits. www.infinitelens.com

Bonnie Ammons learned to create with stained glass 10 years ago in a short workshop and has been in love with the work ever since. Her pieces are a combination of old world craft with the modern lines of the abstract.

Alexandre d’Audiffret is originally from France, Alexandre is a vascular surgeon at West Virginia University. His close up portraits are of friends and family.

Grace Becker’s primary goal as an artist is to create works of art that connect aesthetically and emotionally while telling a story through images and color.

Ian Benson owns Still World Images a documentary fine art photography business that maintains journalistic ethics and integrity. The images are intended to remind those who view them that grace and beauty are everywhere, and that stories worth hearing are all around us. Brad Birkhimer creates wood-fired functional ceramics. He received his M.F.A in Ceramics from West Virginia University.

Jason Bohnert creates handmade stoneware and porcelain vessels for daily use. He received his M.F.A in Ceramics from West Virginia University.

Sharon Corbin is a Fine Arts Major at Fairmont State University. Sharon creates primarily landscapes in oil and watercolors.

Adam Cross is a serious beginning student of the arts at West Virginia University. He works in oil, creating portraits and human studies with an influence from Old Masters.

Dan Cunningham is a acoustical guitarist.

Robin Dallas is artist and owner of Bead Monster Boutique, Robin is a fine arts graduate from WVU. All the art work in her store was done by her. Before opening Bead Monster she was a freelance artist doing art work, murals and signs for clients. Currently, she designs custom
jewelry and does all the chalk drawings that are displayed in the front of her business.

Gabe Dewitt, a WVU Student from Preston County

Scott Frederick started as an apprentice at Genesis Studio in 1990 and became the owner in June 2001. His photography ranges from weddings to families. All of Scott’s work is done by himself.

Marty French is a retired professor and administrator who earned her doctorate from WVU. She’s growing and developing her business Posh Pillows. She creates pillows, totebags & fanciful pigs from various fabrics, trimmings and needlepoint.

Marcie Fusco was born in Humboldt County, California in 1974. She studied for a Bachelor of Science in fine art at Eastern Oregon University. She is most recently a resident of Morgantown, West Virginia where she lives with her husband Geoff, her dog Benson, and her two cats, Rex and Fiona. Living and working in rural communities, in Oregon, Colorado, and West Virginia, has provided inspiration through the grandeur of the natural world. Much of her work is abstraction of the environment. Her latest work is greatly influenced by her interest in texture and color.

Rob Haining moved to West Virginia to work for WVU. After finishing his work at the University. Rob changed his career and became an artist. He now pursues mirror etching.

Patricia Harmon is a self-taught landscape oil painter who has been a resident of Morgantown for 34 years.   

Bob Hatfield does photographs of landscapes, printing and framing them for exhibiting in galleries. The focus of his photography is to show areas of landscape that are small in scope and reflect some link to the environment wit a collage of colors and shapes.

Heidi Hayes is an art teacher at Valley Elementary School in Preston County. She creates abstract paintings using watercolors.

Saundra Hayes is an art teacher at Preston County High School. She creates landscape paintings using oils and acrylics.

Junior Pez Band - Jeremy Biller and Steve Arnette of the Junior Pez band, started playing popular party songs eight years ago. WVAQ has been quoted for calling them the “premier party band”. At ARTS WALK the artists will be playing an acoustic version of the popular party songs.

Meg Juckett is from Morgantown, West Virginia. In 2000, she attended the Hungry Creek Arts and Crafts school in Wakworth, New Zealand. This year, she will graduate from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a certification to teach art. In her work, Meg seeks to depict natural curiosities with decorative painting and collage techniques. Many of her paintings are based on small collages, in which parts of photographs, drawings, diagrams, text, and scientific illustrations are combined. Imagery consists of abstracted figures, animals, and decorative patterns taken from nature. The format of the works varies. Recently Meg has been working on small-scale collage/assemblage projects and book arts. Her studio concentration, however, is in oil painting.

Jamie Lester specializes in bas relief portrait sculpture for the monument industry. Jamie sculpted the Jerry West statue and won the West Virginia Commemorative Quarter Design contest with his depiction of the New River Gorge Bridge.

Joseph Lupo earned his MFA from the University of Georgia, he joined the faculty of WVU in 2004. His work in the classroom focuses on intaglio, relief, silkscreen and digital printmaking. Since joining the faculty, he has been the Printmaking Department Coordinator and the Visiting Artist Coordinator. Joseph’s work has been a part of over 50 different juried and curated shows across the United States.

Karen Maset is an artist from Waynesburg PA.

Bill Mayer comes from a family of artists. His media is wood carving. He starts with a block of wood or an old tree stump and he finds the beauty within. His pieces have found homes with friends and family and some have been shown in other states. Mayer starts his pieces with a chainsaw and then moves to his chisels to finely craft his work. He considers himself a “recycler,” taking something and giving it another use. Although he’s not always had the time he’d like to devote to his artwork, he has always found ways to keep his hands busy. Running the High Street Dairy Queen with his brother, keeps him busy most of the summer, but come cooler months Mayer will find more time to carve his masterpieces.

Francesca Merandi creates jewelry made with semi precious stones, crystal, silver and gold.

Gabrielle Merandi makes handmade crystal, silver and gold jewelry and also does floral photography.

Metropolitan Theatre, this lavish and lively spectacular recreates some of the biggest moments from the best known Broadway musical shows of the century. Lisa Miller creates traditional, utilitarian dinnerware using industrial forming methods combined with hand-crafted elements. She received her M.F.A. in Ceramics from West Virginia University.

Annie Morris is a research hydrologist at WVU. She creates her work using materials that she gathers from her home in West Virginia. “I spend a lot of time in the field and am constantly amazed by the natural landscape in West Virginia. During the ten years I have lived here, I have spent a lot of time mountain biking, hiking, cross-country skiing, and exploring the rivers. Narah, who has been Belly Dancing since 1993, performs what is known as Tribal Fusion Style. This dance has roots that reach back to ancient times, but prides itself on its modern edge. Both progressive and traditional, this empowering dance form speaks to people from all walks of life. Kristina Palumbo is a Senior Art Education and Painting Major at WVU. She is a native of Morgantown. She does commissioned portraits in graphite for customers and specializes in oil painting. Her drawings and paintings focus mainly on figure and portrait studies. Kristina will be displaying several pieces of work from her deceased artist collection featuring such artist as Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, John Lennon and more.

Judy Pincus graduated from the American University, in Washington, D.C. in 1970, with a Liberal Arts BA, with a concentration in graphic design and drawing. She took part in arts and crafts shows doing portraits and silhouettes on the spot from 1975-1983. She has done water color paintings since 2002. In her work she attempts to “Capture” Nature Scenes and strive for a blend of realism & impressionistic effects. Judy most recently attended a watercolor workshop in Boone, NC.

Denise Roberts has been a Tamarack Artisan since 2004. She has exhibited on State and National Level (Juried exhibits). She have received numerous awards and a grant from The Tamarack Foundation. Denise had a quilt in The Museum of the American Quilter’s Society and The New England Quilt Museum (the #1 and #2 quilt museums in the nation. ) She started quilting 20 years ago mostly self taught and since 2004 has worked towards creating Art Quilts that are totally her creations from start to finish. She dyes her own fabrics and improvisationally pieces and quilts them. She will have several of her award winning quilts on display at The Sew Inn.

Rachel Robinette has always had a passion for designing clothes and accessories. Her designs have been featured in several local shows. Frank Scafella a retired WVU English Professor, City Council Member and Former Mayor of Morgantown is pursuing his passion for photography & mixed media. He is exhibiting mixed media, colored pencils, digital photography, landscape, still life & nature prints.

Beth Sodomick is a senior painting major at WVU and a lifelong resident of Morgantown. Her paintings focus on images of historic downtown Morgantown, mainly High Street.

Sue Ting is the owner of Morgantown’s popular Zenclay Gallery and Cafe and one of Morgantown’s finest potters.

Chitra Tatachar is a web developer and photographer; a resident of Morgantown, WV. Her primary interest are landscape and nature photography. She is also a stock photographer for istockphoto, Dreamstime and other stock photo agencies. She has won several awards at the Mountain State Forest Festival. Kathy Torsney was originally from the Southern part of the State. She has lived in this area for 15 years and considers herself a “townie.” She and her husband enjoy downtown Morgantown. They are blessed with a talented family whose art is also on display tonight.
